School Of Bass 14 – featuring Nitrous (Montreal)

School Of Bass presents you Nitrous from Montreal. Co-owner of Monkey Dub Recordings and owner of In Da Jungle Recordings, this business man has some serious arsenal in his crates.

Born in Montreal, Canada, Nitrous (also know as D-Joos) grew up listening to a wide range of different music (Hip-Hop, Metal, Grunge, Punk, Rock). He was first exposed to electronic music in the early 90′s through the now infamous Goldie track, Inner City Life.

This is where everything changed for him, slowly starting buying vinyls and first spinning House and Techno music. He later made the big switch and started spinning exclusively Drum and Bass. In 1999, he created his own production company called “Kracked Knuckles”, doing small and intimate dnb events in Montreal.

He later founded the “In Da Jungle” production company with Dj`s Galaksy and Axionfigga, that created Havoc in the Montreal dnb scene for over 5 years, bringing only the best DnB Djs in town, in the likes of John B and Klute.

Nitrous is now well established in the Montreal dnb scene, having played alongside many international Djs by the likes of:

Concord Dawn (NZ), Kemal (UK), Klute (UK), John B (UK), Panacea (Germany), Digital (UK), Juju (USA) and The Upbeats (NZ).

In 2003, he got introduced to music production, using Propellerhead`s Reason and Steinberg`s Cubase to create his own sounds. He has now numerous tracks available on his own Digital Label “In Da Jungle Recording” that he founded in 2006 with Nick and Erina Z, Dj Kensai and Dj Scandal.

http://www.soundcloud.com/dave-dialect

Dave Dialect, (MTL) was initially influenced by local Hip Hop Dj’s making mix tapes in 96. He began showing up at the mix sessions, to jam and record with them, which progressed on to performing in shows and events around town.

After being introduced to Jungle mixtapes, he began hitting the “afterhours” clubs and raves downtown. Since his debut into the Montreal underground scene in 2001, Dave Dialect can be heard blending anything from Dirty Electro, Fidget House, Funky Breaks, Filthy Dubstep, to DnB & Drumstep on any given night of the week in the city.

Releasing his first single with Planet Break Records, Dialect has since put several other tracks out on:

- Calgary’s Breakz R Boss Records,

Tamerax bio info:

In a crowded sea of faceless DJs and anonymous party scenes, Tamerax has managed to separate himself from the pack, building a reputation and a following that has seen him welcomed at events across North America. His sets are constructed out of only the most thunderous and intense tracks designed to drive any floor wild. Partiers instantly respond to his mix of hard trance and hardstyle, and his …recent forays into freeform / UK hardcore have met with the same level of success.

Part of what sets Tamerax apart from other DJ’s is his relentless energy behind the decks. His ability to engage the crowd through his sheer passion for the music he is playing enables him to form a connection that few other performers can lay claim.

Tamerax’s smooth mixing skills, track selection and devotion to his audience can be attributed to his humble beginnings as a radio DJ almost 15 years ago, spinning an eclectic mix of trance, drum and bass, rock and industrial. These early years have since shaped and influenced all of his sets. A craving for more direct contact with those who enjoyed his mixes naturally led him to the world of raves, and he began performing live in 1999. Over the years he has been privileged to play alongside some of the biggest names in the industry: Hennes and Cold, Derb, Kev Energy, Uplift, Sc@r, Orbit1, Marc Smith, Scott Brown, Sharkey, Lenny Dee, DJ Promo, Phosphor, Delta 9, AC Slater , Luke Spellbound and Dodgee. He has himself earned a respectable degree of recognition in the Ottawa scene where he was twice voted Favorite DJ by partygoers (2004 and 2008) and internationally through his featured sets on DI.fm.He has played at some of the largest Montreal and Ottawa underground events in recent history and was honored to be able to play a set at the Hardsound stage at the final World Electronic Music Festival in 2008.

Exposure to a wide range of styles lead him to branched out into production in 2001, eventually realizing his dream of building his own studio in 2007. With this solid foundation he managed to see his first release take wing on Blizzard Tracks, Canada’s premier hardcore label. Positive reviews for his tracks have poured in from the likes of Kev Energy, Lost Soul and Oli G.

‘Tamerax has been our resident for nearly 10 years’, says Doc Savage, internationally-recognized DJ and founding member of Synergy Canada Productions. ‘In that time I’ve never seen him fail to do anything other than absolutely kick the crowd’s ass with awesome hard dance’. These sentiments are echoed by the legions of ravers and partiers who regularly reward Tamerax with all that they have on dance floors across the country.

“Tamerax is a solid link in the future of hard dance production in Canada.”

Type-Z.E.R.O. bio info:

Type-Z.E.R.O. (Hardstyle)

Overdrive Canada, Ambiguous Recording

http://www.overdrivecanada.com/

A DJ career dating back to 2001, and production dating back to 1997, Type-Z.E.R.O. Has been at this game for a while. Originally taking root in progressive and techno, his sound has evolved across almost every genre of trance and now settling in on Hardstyle. Obsess with the genre, Type-Z.E.R.O. has dedicated himself to perfecting his mixing techniques and playing some of the most uplifting and driving melodies combined with the hardest and dirtiest drum beats around.

After an almost 4 year hiatus, he’s back with a vengeance… with a new sound and a new company, Type-Z.E.R.O.’s Overdrive Canada is ready to rip it up, and destroy dance floors. Having played along side of such names as DJ Sharkey, Luna-C, Mark Smith, No-Left-Turn, The Blizzard Boys, Dain-Ja, P4L4DIN, DJ Mad, DJ Tamerax, DJ Virus, just to name a few.

Get ready for a hardstyle experience like no other, It’s time to play…

ExT bio info:

exT (Hardcore/Gabber) – [ Kanibalz, CHC, http://www.djext.ca/ ]

There is no other DJ like exT. If there was, it would mean CERN’s experiments had opened an inter-dimensional rift allowing parallel universe exT’s to cross over. Beware, as these exT’s play progressive polka trance, and drink nothing but Bacardi Breezer’s. I know… Scary stuff. You can expect to hear nothing but the finest sounds from the world of harcore/gabber from alpha-exT. And beware of 3 headed lemur’s from dimension 631.

RT60 is the moniker of breakbeat electronic music producer/DJ Josh Baskerville. Currently residing in Montreal, Canada, RT60 originally got his start in his hometown of Ottawa, Canada. He gained his love for breakbeat electronic music while doing a co-op program for high school at One Unity Records, while stocking all the new vinyl that came into the store. It wasn’t long before he played a few shows (even though he was too young to even be in the bars) He began producing his own ragga-jungle dubs to play out after being inspired by many of the producers spinning their own dubplates. RT60 has dabbled with many genres of breakbeat and dub influenced music over the years. As a dj in Ottawa he has played different styles alongside a few names under various aliases. After taking a short hiatus from electronic music to pursue opportunities in hip-hop, he has returned to his true love, From driving’ to deep, this selecta knows his stuff and keeps it versatile. He has also been honing his turntablism skills for performances. RT60 was recently signed to Monkey Dub Recordings and is currently working on his first few realeases.
